At Little Explorers Early Childhood Education & Care, our classrooms are communities of discovery. We are seeking a Toddler Lead Teacher who brings warmth, professionalism and a vision to a learning environment where children explore, question, create and grow through purposeful play and inquiry.
The Toddler Lead Teacher plays a critical role in preparing children for preschool while honoring curiosity, creativity and individual learning styles. In this role, Lead Teachers are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care regulations. Teachers plan experiences that support children’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development while maintaining compliance with health, safety and supervision requirements. Documentation, observation and family communication are integral components of the teaching role.
Key Responsibilities
- Support children’s autonomy, language development and emerging independence
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate inquiry-based learning experiences that encourage exploration and curiosity
- Foster early social skills, emotional regulation and positive peer interactions
- Use positive guidance strategies to support problem-solving and behavior development
- Create a safe, nurturing and engaging classroom environment that promotes movement, play and discovery
- Observe and document children development to inform curriculum planning and individualized support
- Maintain consistent routines and smooth transitions throughout the day
- Partner with families through ongoing communication and share observations
- Ensure compliance with all Massachusetts EEC health, safety and supervision regulations
- Mentor and collaborate with teaching team to support classroom success
Requirements
- EEC Lead Teacher Certification (Infant/Toddler)
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (required)
- Must pass state and company required background checks.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Lead Teacher or strong teacher ready to step into a lead role.
- Experience with inquiry based, Reggio-inspired, or play based learning (required)
- Effective communication, organization, and leadership skills
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. multiple times a day.
- Must be able to stand, lift, sit, run and move around most of the day.
