At Little Explorers Early Childhood Education & Care, our classrooms are communities of discovery. We are seeking an Assistant Teacher who brings warmth, professionalism and a vision to a learning environment where children explore, question, create and grow through purposeful play and inquiry.

The Assistant Teacher works collaboratively with the Lead Teacher to support daily routines, curriculum implementation and individualized care. This role focuses on responsive caregiving, relationship-based interactions and developmentally appropriate sensory experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Lead Teacher and Teacher in implementing daily classroom activities and routines
  • Help create a calm, engaging and nurturing learning environment inspired by Montessori and nature-based practices
  • Supervise children to ensure safety and well-being at all times
  • Assist with diapering, toileting, feeding and other caregiving responsibilities are needed
  • Encourage children’s independence, social emotional growth and positive behaviors
  • Prepare classroom materials and maintain cleanliness and organization of learning spaces
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally with families and team members
  • Participate in classroom transitions, outdoor play, and enrichment activities
  • Follow all EEC regulations, health and safety policies, and center procedures
  • Assist with opening and closing classroom responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • EEC Teacher Certification required or ability to maintain
  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool children preferred
  • Warm, nurturing, and patient demeanor with children and families
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment
  • Montessori and / or nature based early childhood experience preferred
  • CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. multiple times a day.
  • Must be able to stand, lift, sit, run and move around most of the day.
