Little Explorers ECEC is a warm, nurturing early childhood program inspired by Montessori principles and nature-based learning. Our environment encourages exploration, independence, creativity, and meaningful connections with children, families and the natural world. We are seeking a passionate Assistant Director who shares our vision and passion for high-quality early childhood education.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the center opener and ensure classrooms are prepared for the day
- Support daily center operations and maintain smooth classroom transitions
- Assist with staff scheduling, ratio management, and classroom coverage
- Help maintain compliance with EEC regulations, health and safety standards
- Support onboarding and mentoring teachers and assistants
- Step into classrooms as needed to support staff and children
- Support use of Brightwheel and family engagement initiatives
- Collaborate with teachers on curriculum planning and classroom support
- Assist with maintaining children’s files and licensing paperwork
- Help coordinate events, family engagement activities, and enrichment programs
- Build positive relationships with children and families
- Greet families warmly during morning arrival
- Help create calm, inviting, and child centered classroom environments
- Assist with enrollment inquiries, tours, and parent communication
- Reliable, dependable, calm, nurturing, patient
- Passionate about early childhood education and care
- Professional while maintaining a warm and welcoming presence
Requirements
- Massachusetts Director 1 or Director II Certification required
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an early childhood education setting
- Leadership or supervisory experience required
- Strong knowledge of Massachusetts EEC regulations and licensing standards
- CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Passion for Montessori-inspired and nature-based learning environments
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced childcare setting
- Warm, professional, and family center approach.
- Able to lift 40 pounds
